horses in the healing space

Being around horses can be a powerful experience. Often, people describe a sense of peace or aliveness being in the presence of horses and reconnecting with nature. Horses live in social groups and much like us, need relationships to thrive so they are always communicating.

Connecting with a horse during therapy or equine assisted learning can provide you with the opportunity to explore the topics like communication, connection, listening and consent all of which are essential in healthy relationships.

Because domesticated horses are dependent on us, exploring how power and dominance exist in the human/horse relationship helps us take responsibility for the power we hold so this power isn’t abused. This is relevant in all relationships whether it be parent and child, romantic partnerships or friendships.
